How to read the time?

 Introduction

To read time, englishmen use the system on 12h while frenchmen use the system on 24h. In english we always read the minute before the hour.

Some notions of hour
AM: Ante Meridian
PM: Post Meridian
GMT : Greenwich Mean Time
Midnight:Minuit, in french
Midday: Midi, in french
Half: it is used to express "30mins"
Quarter: it is used to express "15mins"
O'clock: It is used to express the exactitude of time
Past (... passée de...): it is used before and also for the half of the hour (00 - 30mins)
To (... Moins...): it is used after the half of the hour (31- 59mins)

Examples
- What is the time? Or what time is it?
- It is five past one PM (01:05 PM)
- It is quarter to eleven AM (10:45 AM)
It is half past seven AM (07:30 AM)

Precision: radio BBC reads the time such as in french.
Examples
- 18h24 GMT (eighteen twenty-four GMT)
- 20h30 GMT (twenty thirty GMT)
