Adverbes of time


 Introduction

Adverbs of time are used to indicate when an action takes place, But also during how many times and how often.

The different adverbs of time are:

*adverbs that indicate us when:
    They are put to the end of a sentence.
- yesterday (hier)
- today (aujourd'hui)
- tomorrow (demain)
- later (plus en retard)
- now (maintenant)
- last ( dernier ou dernière)
Examples
- I saw Thomas today.
- Drogba lives here now.

*adverbs that indicate us how many times:
They are put to the end of a sentence.
- since (dépuis)
- for (pendant)
Examples
- I lived in england for ten years.
- it was born since 1634.

*adverbs that indicate us how often:
They are put before the principal verb but after the auxiliaries verbs ( be, have, may and must). When the principal verb is ""to be"" , in this case, the adverb of time is put after the verb.
- never (jamais)
- often (souvent)
- always (toujours)
- late (tard ou en retard)
- rarely (rarement)...
Examples
-  I often drink the palm wine.
- Sarah never gives up.
- we are rarely late.

Exercise
Do a sentence with these following words:
Now - today - never - rarely - often.
